Breaking News: Shikahachi (Tour de East Japan) Evolves! Announcing New ‘Jōban Arc’ and ‘Sanriku Arc’ Format for the 800km Journey.

Thank you for your continued interest in Shikahachi (Tour de East Japan: Kashima to Hachinohe 800km).

We are thrilled to announce a major update for the upcoming season. To make this epic 800km journey more accessible and adaptable to your personal style, we are evolving the event format.

In addition to the traditional “Full Tour” and “Single Stage” entries, we are introducing two new comprehensive packages: “The Jōban Arc” and “The Sanriku Arc.”

This new format allows participants to join flexibly, choosing to ride just the first half or the second half of the tour to fit their schedule and fitness level.

We are excited to share the confirmed event schedule and the outlines of these two new Arcs as our first official announcement.

Weaving the 800km Journey Through Two Stories: The Jōban & Sanriku Arcs

We have divided the epic 800km route into two distinct “Arcs,” each with its own unique character.

Shikahachi “The Jōban Arc”

A route featuring majestic Pacific Ocean views and the powerful recovery of the region, covering flat to rolling terrain.

  • 4/26 Stage 1 “Kashima – Hitachi” (110km)
  • 4/27 Stage 2 “Hitachi – Tomioka” (Self-Guided 120km / Guided 80km)
  • 4/28 Stage 3 “Tomioka – Sendai” (Self-Guided 130km / Guided 80km)

4/29, 4/30, and 5/1 will be an interval period
We are also planning an original non-cycling sightseeing tour during this period for those interested. Details will be announced later.

Shikahachi “The Sanriku Arc”

This is not just a ride along the world-famous rias coastline; you will also enjoy breathtaking views from old mountain roads. It is a challenging route with continuous ascents and descents.

  • 5/2 Stage 1 “Ishinomaki – Kesennuma” (90km)
  • 5/3 Stage 2 “Kesennuma – Kamaishi” (85km)
  • 5/4 Stage 3 “Kamaishi – Kuji” (Self-Guided 160km / Guided 75km)
  • 5/5 Stage 4 “Kuji – Hachinohe” (70km)

*Please note: All stage distances are provisional and subject to change upon final route confirmation.

Pricing and Registration Details Coming Soon!

We are currently finalizing the detailed pricing structure for different participation styles (such as “Self-Guided” and “Guided” tours) and for optional components like hotels, meals, and airport transfers.

We will announce the official registration start date along with these details very soon.

For those who found it difficult to join the full tour, we hope you will consider participating in one of these new Arcs. We look forward to welcoming you to ride through the beautiful “present” of East Japan.

Stay tuned for more updates!
